Head Boys Basketball Coach Vacancy:
PURPOSE Coordinate and provide overall leadership of their respective athletic programs.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Athletic Director and is evaluated by the Athletic Director. Supervises all assistant coaches and feeder programs Works with the Assistant Athletic Director for scheduling of facilities/games.
APPOINTMENT 26-27
School Year Compensated appropriately on the stipend salary schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes the vision/mission of Saint Viator High School and Saint Viator Athletics Assures that a coherent, comprehensive district program is established and maintained Assists the Assistant Athletic Director with building the season schedule Develops a consistent philosophy for discipline Affords opportunity for off-season options such as summer camps/off-season practices. Assists in field/mat/gym maintenance with his/her team when necessary Extends considerable time and effort with the press for team/athlete/school recognition Maintains inter-level communication with assistant coaches. Maintains harmonious relationships with conference coaches Will be involved in practice/games 6 days a week during the season, unless special circumstances prevail, withstanding holidays Maintains IHSA expectations and compliance Supports lower-level games when possible Works with the Athletic Director in establishing an accountable budget Remains current on practices and procedures relative to coaching expertise Evaluates assistant coaches Maintains a positive attitude with staff and players at all times. Actively supports the athletic handbook Attends all head coaches' meetings Attends all necessary Conference and IHSA meetings Maintains open communication with parents and students Encourages participation in other sports, does not prohibit or discourage this participation Observes and illustrates good sportsmanship at all times Attends all lower-level awards ceremonies Ensures there is an end-of-year banquet for their team(s) Keeps an updated inventory of all uniforms, equipment, and supplies Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
