Job Description

Position Overview:
The High School of St. Thomas More, a Catholic high school dedicated to academic excellence and faith-based formation, is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Girls Tennis Coach . This individual will be responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the girls' tennis program in alignment with the school's mission, athletic philosophy, and Catholic identity. The ideal candidate will be a strong role model who values sportsmanship, integrity, and spiritual growth as integral components of athletic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all facets of the girls tennis program, including team selection, training, match preparation, and in-season strategy. Promote skill development, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture. Coordinate and supervise assistant coaches (if applicable). Plan and conduct safe, organized, and effective practices and training sessions. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the athletic department. Uphold and model the values of the Catholic faith in team interactions and behavior. Ensure compliance with school, league, and state athletic regulations. Support academic achievement and personal development of all student-athletes. Participate in any school-required faith formation or coaching training programs. Be able to consistently be at practices/matches - which are held in the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Illinois.
Qualifications:
Required:
Prior coaching experience in tennis at the high school, club, or collegiate level. Knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, strategy, and team management. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Must pass all background checks and complete diocesan Safe Environment training.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in education, physical education, sports management, or related field. Previous experience as a head or assistant coach. CPR/First Aid certified. NFHS Coaching Certification or equivalent.
