Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Sophomore Girls Volleyball Coach for the 2026 Fall season. The ideal candidate will have experience in volleyball coaching/techniques and a commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging environment at the high school level. The ideal candidate will have coaching experience at the high school or elementary school level. Candidates who have played at the high school and collegiate level but have NOT coached will be considered. This role would begin in early August 2026 with conditioning/try outs. In season, the role requires leading practices at least 4 times/week, beginning around 415pm at our LPHS campus. Conference and non-conference games take place at least twice per year, with the season concluding in October. This is a part-time seasonal paid role. The compensation for this role will be discussed with candidates and is a flat stipend amount, not hourly, and is paid at the end of the season. This is a chance to be part of a talented coaching staff and lead athletes in a prominent Chicago public high school. Responsibilities Ensure team athletes are prepared for games. Conduct regular practice sessions, ensuring that all participants are engaged, motivated and learning increasing skills. Ensure and monitor the safety of all team members during practice sessions and competitions. Communicate effectively with team athletes and team parents/guardians. Work with the LPHS Athletic Dept to ensure athlete compliance. Engage proactively with other coaches at the school. Attend required coach meetings. Requirements Previous experience in teaching physical education or sports coaching is preferred. Previous experience with some volleyball coaching, ideally at the high school level OR having played the sport at a collegiate level is preferred. Candidates who have not played or coached volleyball will not be considered. A passion for the sport of volleyball. A desire to work with high school athletes, modeling strong professional behavior and mentoring. Ability to attend regular practices and games. Strong and proactive communication skills. Adhere to IHSA, CPS and LPHS rules and guidelines for coaches. Complete all onboarding tasks in a timely manner. Lincoln Park High School is a Chicago Public School, located in the heart of Lincoln Park with overall student enrollment of ~2,200 students of very diverse backgrounds. LPHS is a neighborhood school, a magnet school for performing arts and a highly respected International Baccalaureate School. LPHS offers over 35 sports across 3 seasons and is highly committed to athletic excellence. Coaches are an integral part of the LPHS community.
