JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Volleyball Instructor/Coach to lead and develop players of various ages and skill levels. This includes planning practices, teaching fundamental and advanced skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship. The coach will also manage team logistics, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following: Develop and implement effective training plans and practice sessions. Teach volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback. Organize and manage team schedules, including games, tournaments, and travel. Communicate with parents, athletic directors, and other stakeholders. Recruit and retain athletes, if applicable. Monitor academic performance and eligibility (for school-based programs). Uphold the values of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship. Plan, organize, and conduct soccer training sessions tailored to age and skill level. Ensure a safe playing environment by following safety guidelines and protocols. Observe and enforce facility rules and regulations. Communicate with parents and guardians about program activities, schedules, and participant progress. Set up and clean-up areas. Maintain a clean and organized program area. Attend in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures. Be responsible for team equipment and ensure it is age-appropriate and in good condition. Report problems or needs management. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies, Procedures, and Code of Ethics In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education:
A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as sports science or physical education, is preferred. High School Diploma required with 4 years of experience in sports instruction
Certification:
Coaching certification (e.g., NFHS, USA Volleyball) preferred. CPR and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained within the first 90 days.
Experience:
Prior coaching or playing experience in volleyball.
Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies. Strong communication and Leadership skills Ability to lead and motivate children Knowledge of sports rules and regulations Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Refined communication and coordination techniques Ability to engage children, students, and staff in a professional manner Well-honed sports-related diagnostic abilities. A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
