Guide players towards embodying the qualities of Jesus Christ and instruct in the skills of the sport based on their age and maturity. Creating a community with their team that exemplifies what it means to be a follower of Christ, work together to achieve a common goal, and promote all athletic programs. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the coaching staff, parents, student-athletes, colleagues and the greater community. Scope of Role May oversee volunteers Assist Head Coach in running 1-2 fundraisers (as applicable) Essential Roles & Responsibilities include but not limited to: Utilizing sports as a great training ground for sharing life lessons and providing vision and direction in this area Biblically encourage the team to maintain strong academics, in line with the student-athlete philosophy Assist in development of players at your level Pursue best practices within the sport, creating and executing efficient practice plans Create an environment that is inviting and promotes students' return the following season Work with the administration on eligibility and holding athletes to a high standard Support Head Coach and AD in enforcing student discipline per expectations and athletic code Communicate with parents regarding practices and game schedules (as needed or appropriate) Be available and approachable to receive input and concerns from parents and the community; immediately act on responsive items in the best interest of RVCS Partner with the Head Coach and AD to hold parent meetings at the start of each season Required to have third-party involvement (staff member or parent) when communicating with athletes; coaches may not be alone with a child Be present at all practice sessions at least 15 minutes before they are scheduled to begin and remain after practice until all athletes have been picked up by a parent or authorized adult Inspect facilities and equipment for cleanliness, safety, and upkeep for practices and games, and coordinate any issues with administration Travel to away games as required, become an approved RVCS driver, and be available to drive a 14-passenger minibus when needed Coordinate with the Head Coach and AD regarding end-of-year athletic meetings, celebrations, and awards Assist the Head Coach in any/all fundraising and donor development initiatives Promote RVCS to current and prospective students, parents, and the broader community Spiritual Formation Demonstrate a personal commitment through active participation in a local Bible-based church Lead the team with integrity and authentic Christian values Model biblical values and Christian character in all interactions with athletes, families, coaching staff, and guests Encourage spiritual growth through positive relationships, prayer, and Christ-centered interactions Diligently guide and develop assistant coaches and players toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ Promote a spiritual and emotional environment that encourages discipleship and spiritual growth among students, helping student-athletes grow in their walk with Jesus Knowledge / Skills /

Education and Experience:

Minimum 19 years of age (according to IHSA requirements) 2 years of coaching experience Bachelor's Degree, preferred Complete and maintain
