Director of Athletics About Beacon Academy Beacon Academy is an independent Montessori high school in Evanston, Illinois, committed to developing curious, capable, and compassionate young adults. Position Summary Beacon Academy seeks an enthusiastic, student-centered Head Boys Soccer Coach to lead and develop our high school boys soccer program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive team culture built on inclusion, accountability, skill development, and sportsmanship while helping student-athletes reach their full potential. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the boys soccer program, including planning and conducting practices, coaching games, communicating with families, and supporting the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with Beacon Academy's mission and values. Essential Responsibilities Plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate practices and competitions. Teach fundamental and advanced soccer skills, tactics, and strategies. Promote a positive team culture rooted in respect, accountability, and inclusion. Support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of student-athletes. Model and reinforce exemplary sportsmanship and ethical conduct. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and athletic department staff. Collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, travel, program needs, and athlete support. Attend required coaches' meetings and school events related to the program. Ensure compliance with IHSA regulations and Beacon Academy policies. Assist in recruiting and retaining student participation in the soccer program.
Qualifications Preferred candidates will possess:
Previous soccer coaching/playing experience at the high school, club, collegiate, or equivalent level. Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, player development, and game strategy. Experience mentoring and working with adolescents. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive team environment. The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families. Successful completion of required background checks and IHSA coaching requirements.
