Description:

Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Instill skills that will lead to the formulation of pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certification:

Head wrestling coach must be a teacher licensed in Illinois or complete an approved IESA or ISHA coaching class.

•Must have prior wrestling and coaching experience, Red Cross First Aid Certification, CPR/AED certification, Concussion certification, and USA Wrestling National Coaches Education Program certification approved.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Submits "Application for Extra Duty Position" for Administrative Review 2. Obtains administrative approval to fill the position 3. Meets with the administration and reviews Performance Responsibilities for the position 4. Signs "Performance Responsibilities Acknowledgment" for the position 5. Acts as a liaison between the administration and the organization 6. Possesses a thorough knowledge of the Athletic Program approved by Woodland School 7. Possesses a knowledge of existing school, conference and state regulations and implements consistency in interpreting such 8. Conducts tryouts yearly to select a team 9. Establishes, in conjunction with the administration, meetings and activities for the organization 10. Attends all meetings and sponsored activities 11. Maintains positive relations with parents and fans 12. Provides team members and parents with practice and game schedules, directions for away games, eligibility requirements 13. Establishes a line of command within the organization 14. Prepares students to represent the school in an effort to provide spirit, enthusiasm and interest relating to the activity 15. Maintains policy, in conjunction with the administration, which reflects school values and as an avenue of public relations 16. Teaches the fundamentals, rules, strategies and basic skills of the sport so the athlete will realize a degree of individual and team success 17. Promotes accepted warm-up, stretching and safety techniques associated with the activity 18. Teaches self discipline, responsibility, teamwork, character, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self confidence and sportsmanship 19. Provides adequate supervision at all times to insure the safety of students during activities whether in school or at outside school activities 20. Assures enforcement of all school rules and regulations at activities 21. Supervises students at games and on the bus and develops a roster sheet so parents can sign their children out if the parents take them home from away games 22. Ensures all students have a ride home and provides supervision until all students have left the activity 23. Enforces "no play or practice rule" for those students who do not have signed parental permission slips, do not have physicals on file in the office, have not paid the Participation Fee, are not academically eligible or were absent from school on the day of the activity 24. Gains administrative approval for any fundraisers 25. Collects and deposits any money as stipulated by the administration, Building and District Policy and Procedures 26. Exercises careful supervision over all student operated projects, student personnel, clean up and money collection for which the organization is responsible 27. Accountable for distribution and collection of uniforms and cost of any equipment lost or not returned 28. Submits, at the end of the season, inventory of equipment and uniforms to the Athletic Director 29. Ensures a Medicine kit is always available at practice and games 30. Notifies designated administrator and/or building nurse in the event of a student accident or illness 31. Directs student managers, statisticians and assistants (if applicable) 32. Provides information in a timely manner as and when requested by the Athletic Director and/or the designated building administrator 33. Accepts responsibility for the quality, effectiveness and validity of any oral or written release to the local media 34. Presents a written report upon completion of the activities of the organization, to the designated administrator reviewing the year. (include, but not limited to, the number of students involved, activities, successes and areas for improvement) 35. Performs any additional duties necessary to run the program

Planning and Preparation � Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy, students, and resources. Design coherent instruction and select appropriate instructional activities, and has the ability to assess students' skills and abilities. Instruction � Communicates clearly and accurately, uses questioning and discussion techniques, engages students in learning, provides feedback to students, and demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Professional Responsibility � Maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism.

Technical :

Must be able to utilized a white board/smartboard, iPads with various apps, online assessment tools, Microsoft Office and Google programs, and district email/voicemail systems.

Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses and community. Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people. Must have strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to lead and support paraprofessional staff in the classroom and collaborate with all related service providers.

Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.

•Starting Stipend Pay $3947.02 per season
