Position Summary To oversee all coaching and leadership aspects of a model sideline and/or competitive cheer program as they relate to academic commitment, supervision of personnel, practice organization and instruction, match preparation, recruitment, scheduling and budget management. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university. Demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration and the University community. Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement. Assumption of all coaching responsibilities related to the sport of cheer. Assumption of all administrative responsibilities related to the sport of cheer, including purchase and maintenance of all equipment and coordination of food, lodging and transportation needs. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes. Development and enforcement of team rules. Planning, development and conducting of all in-season and off-season practices and conditioning sessions. Ensure that proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained. Coordinate all strategy related to the sport of cheer. Responsible for all aspects of recruitment in accordance with university and NAIA rules, including meeting recruiting goals. A roster of 15 student-athletes is expected to be maintained. Ability to use social media for recruiting and program promoting purposes. Work in conjunction with athletic administration and Financial Aid Services in awarding financial assistance, specifically athletic scholarships. Understanding and support of all athletic policies and regulations, as well as all philosophies, of the University and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Understanding and support of the NAIA Champions of Character Coaches Code. Work in conjunction with athletic administration in scheduling competitions and practices. Represent the athletic department and university in a professional manner at various internal and external functions and in working with internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to the media and general public. Oversee all aspects of budget preparation and management. Perform other administrative duties within the department as assigned. Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. One year of cheer coaching experience. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position. Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays. Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the University. Preferred Requirements Bachelor's degree Three years of collegiate cheer coaching experience. Hours/Shift/Work Schedule Hours vary, but do include weekends, nights and holidays. Physical Requirements of Position Work is performed in both an office setting and at athletic arenas with moderate exposure to varying weather conditions, but minimal health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is sedentary work, which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
