High School Head Cross Country Coach Job Description:
The High School Asst. Cross Country Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in managing and developing a successful cross country program at Beech Grove High School. This includes coaching, training, and mentoring student-athletes in the sport of cross country, while also ensuring their safety and promoting good sportsmanship. The asst. coach also assists the head coach with administrative tasks, such as scheduling, communication with parents and school administration, and managing equipment. Job Responsibilities in Conjunction with the
Head Coach:
Plan and conduct practices focused on skill development, strategy, and teamwork. Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual athlete needs and the overall team goals. Analyze athlete performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement. Teach fundamental running skills, strategies, and techniques. Oversee training sessions and meets, ensuring athlete safety and proper execution of skills. Assist in scheduling meets, practices, and transportation arrangements. Manage team equipment and inventory. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding program updates and information. Maintain accurate records of athlete participation, performance, and safety information. Adhere to school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Foster a positive and supportive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. Motivate and encourage athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the field. Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes, helping them develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. Promote the development of good character and leadership qualities in student-athletes. Attend meetings and clinics as required by the school and league. Work with the middle school cross country coaches to develop a comprehensive program 7-12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the athletic director or school administration.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalency Prior Playing/Coaching Experience Preferred but not Required
