Immediately Job Description 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach Position Overview The 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for providing student-athletes with a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate basketball experience. The coach will teach fundamental basketball skills, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, develop players' physical and mental abilities, and serve as a positive role model for students. Essential Responsibilities Plan and conduct organized practices that develop individual skills, team concepts, conditioning, and game strategies. Develop players' understanding of offensive and defensive concepts. Prepare the team for games through effective practice planning, scouting, and game preparation. Supervise and coach student-athletes during practices, games, tournaments, and other team activities. Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, accountability, and respect. Establish clear expectations for behavior, attendance, effort, and academic responsibility. Provide appropriate playing opportunities while maintaining a competitive and team-oriented environment. Monitor student-athlete development and provide constructive feedback to help players improve. Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all student-athletes. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administration, athletic staff, and other coaches. Work cooperatively with the high school girls basketball program to promote consistency in fundamentals, terminology, expectations, and overall program development. Maintain accurate team rosters, schedules, eligibility information, and other required athletic records. Properly use and care for school athletic equipment and facilities. Report injuries, safety concerns, disciplinary issues, or other significant concerns to the appropriate school personnel. Encourage student-athletes to maintain appropriate academic performance and school behavior. Represent the school and basketball program in a professional and positive manner at all times. Qualifications Previous basketball playing or coaching experience preferred. Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, strategies, and appropriate teaching techniques. Ability to work effectively with middle school students. Strong communication, organization, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with student-athletes while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and athletic department personnel.
