Middle School Head Boys Basketball Coach

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our Middle School Head Boys Basketball program at RW Combs Elementary. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coaching and developing young athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. This full-time position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to motivate and inspire middle school students. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching plan that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Plan and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all athletes receive appropriate instruction and feedback. Organize and manage the team's schedule, including practices, games, and tournaments. Collaborate with school administration and other coaches to promote the basketball program and enhance student engagement. Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback to support individual and team growth. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages participation and respect among all team members. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and safety protocols. Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the basketball program. Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching and athlete development. Requirements Bachelor's degree in education, sports management, physical education, or a related field preferred. Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level or higher. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate young athletes. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Must pass a background check and meet all school district employment requirements.
