COACHING DUTIES
Head Coaches will be responsible for: Supervising all team members on the bus, in the weight room, locker rooms, and during practice and competition (See Agawam Athletic Department Supervision Protocol).Being in attendance at all scheduled practices and games unless excused by the Athletic Director, Principal or Superintendent. The head coach should be the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Submitting a budget request at the end of the season in order to identify equipment needed for next season.

Checking with the Athletic Director when inventorying and disposing of used equipment. No equipment should be thrown out without informing the Athletic Director.

Storage of all equipment so that it remains undamaged and in good condition.

Checking on weather cancellations through communication with the Athletic Department.

Securing the Agawam High School building after use on nights, weekends and holidays.

Submitting Rosters to Athletic Director in advance of the beginning of the season.

Reporting game results to the Athletic Department and to the media.

Conducting the pre-season coaches meeting for parents and athletes. Presenting team expectations and policies as well as game, bus and practice schedules to the parents.

Following all Agawam High School Athletic Department, PVIAC and MIAA rules and protocols.

Attending all preseason and postseason
P.V.I.A.C.
meetings.

Informing the Certified Athletic Trainer of practice and game schedule changes at least 48 hours in advance.

Bringing a stocked medical kit to all practices and games, and informing the Certified Athletic Trainer of needed supplies.

Notifying the Certified Athletic Trainer of any ill or injured team members.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director.

Assistant Coaches will be responsible for: Assisting Head Coach in inventory of all equipment.

Assisting Head Coach in verifying all clearance forms.

Assisting Head Coach in repairing and maintaining all equipment.

Assisting Head Coach in supervising team and adhering to the Agawam Athletic Department Supervision Protocol.

Assisting Head Coach in reporting game results to the media.

Assisting the Head Coach in checking the bus schedule.

Assisting Head Coach in determining letter and award winners for post-season honors.

Assisting Head Coach in encouraging injury prevention, safety and health practices.

Assisting Head Coach in collecting equipment issued to athletes and holding students responsible for lost or damaged equipment.

Assisting Head Coach in attending all-league meetings.

Assisting Head Coach in informing the Athletic Director of any unsafe athletic facility.

Assisting Head Coach in seeing that team conforms to standards and rules of Agawam Public Schools, the P.V.I.A.C. and MIAA.
