Job Description Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach - Baseball and Softball Boston College Athletics is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and relationship-driven Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to support the development, health, and performance of our student-athletes. This position will serve as the primary strength and conditioning coach for Baseball and Softball and will be an active member of the Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff. In addition to overseeing the year-round physical development of Baseball and Softball student-athletes, the individual will assist with other Olympic sport programs, weight-room operations, staff initiatives, and departmental responsibilities as assigned. The primary location for this role will be housed out of Pete Frates Center, located in Harrington Athletics Village, which houses a state of the art weight room. The coach will work closely with student-athletes, sport coaches, athletic trainers, sports medicine personnel, and members of the strength and conditioning staff to create a collaborative, positive, and high-performance training environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing student-athletes, building strong relationships, and creating training programs that address the physical demands of baseball and softball. This includes strength and power development, speed and acceleration, change of direction, movement quality, energy-system development, injury-risk reduction, and return-to-performance support. Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive year-round strength and conditioning programs for Baseball and Softball.
  • Monitor student-athlete readiness, development, and progress to ensure safe and effective training.
  • Collaborate with sport coaches, athletic trainers, sports medicine personnel, and other performance staff regarding programming, training modifications, rehabilitation, and return-to-performance progressions.
  • Coach and teach proper exercise technique, movement mechanics, sprinting, jumping, and change-of-direction skills.
  • Use performance testing, athlete monitoring, and objective data to guide programming decisions.
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, inclusive, and competitive training environment.
  • Serve as an active and collaborative member of the Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff.
  • Assist with the programming and coaching of other Olympic sport teams as assigned.
  • Support daily weight-room operations, including scheduling, facility organization, equipment maintenance, safety procedures, and student-worker or intern development.
  • Contribute to staff education, departmental initiatives, recruiting activities, camps, special events, and other responsibilities that support Boston College Athletics.
  • Maintain compliance with Boston College, ACC, NCAA, and departmental policies and procedures. This position requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, team travel, and other nontraditional work hours based on training, competition, and departmental schedules. Salary range for this role is $61,000-76,000. Requirements Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field.
  • Current certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Minimum of 18 months of strength and conditioning experience within an NCAA Division I athletic program.
  • Previous strength and conditioning experience working directly with collegiate Baseball and/or Softball student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement year-round, scientifically supported strength and conditioning programs for Baseball and Softball.
  • Strong understanding of the physical, positional, and seasonal demands of collegiate Baseball and Softball.
  • Willingness and ability to coach additional Olympic sport teams and contribute to broader strength and conditioning and athletic department responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with student-athletes, sport coaches, athletic trainers, sports medicine personnel, administrators, and athletic department staff. Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a related field.
  • Previous experience serving as the primary strength and conditioning coach for an NCAA Division I Baseball or Softball program.
  • Experience supporting multiple Olympic sport programs within a collegiate strength and conditioning department.
  • Experience using athlete-monitoring, velocity-based training, force-plate, GPS, or other sports-performance technologies.
