BASKETBALL COACH
(BAND LEVEL 8) Memorial Athletics School of Human Kinetics and Recreation (2-Year Contractual Position) The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approval Memorial University Athletics is seeking a qualified, dynamic, and passionate individual to fill the role of Coach, Men's Basketball, to lead and develop a competitive men's basketball program. DUTIES Reporting to the Director of Athletics, you will be responsible for building a successful and competitive Sea­Hawks men's basketball program that is student-athlete centered and focused on high-performance goals. Duties include recruiting, training and developing outstanding student-athletes; coaching, administering, managing and promoting Sea-Hawks Athletics and the men's basketball program; preparing and managing in-season and out-of-season training programs; organizing and conducting practices and preparing the team for competition; arranging exhibition matches; complying and adhering to current

regulations, as well as university and varsity athletics policies, developing a competitive plan for the program with short-term and long-term goals; managing all team travel and ensuring that athletes act as ambassadors of Memorial; engaging in fundraising activities to support non-core funding areas; managing program budgets and program expenditures in accordance with university policy, creating a positive atmosphere for student-athlete learning and development; planning and developing fundraising programs; developing mental skills programs that support each athlete's growth and development; overseeing the summer youth basketball camps and similar initiatives; developing positive communication relationships with the media, alumni, and basketball communities; participating in professional development activities as a presenter or participant; and performing other complementary duties, as assigned. This position involves work commitments outside of the normal work week, with competition, training, and other programs requiring evening and weekend work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) coaching and working with high-performance athletics; graduation with a university degree in kinesiology or a related field is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Possession of NCCP certification is a requirement for this position. Candidates should also have outstanding leadership qualities, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and team supporters. The successful applicant must also have the ability to recruit throughout Canada. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a graduate degree in kinesiology or a related field. SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
