Job Description
BET ON BALTIMORE
(BoB) is an in-person, paid summer internship where Baltimore youth (Denters) ages 14-21 gain hands-on experience in design, entrepreneurship, and community innovation through real-world projects, taking the lead in identifying challenges, designing solutions, and building work rooted in their ideas, passions, and visions for Baltimore. In 5 weeks (June 29th - July 31st), Denters apply design thinking creativity, technical skills, and entrepreneurship to create real change. They use the equity-centered design thinking process to understand challenges, empathize with real people, brainstorm ideas, and test their own solutions. Across four tracks, youth dive into content creation and marketing, entrepreneurship and venture pitching, product making through M@D (Made@Dent), and community innovation through Denternship —all while developing the mindsets and skills to turn their ideas into action. At Dent Education , our work supports youth to discover their power to shape their lives, strengthen their communities, and achieve upward mobility. Through Bet on Baltimore, they gain hands-on experience, mentors, and lifelong connections—building not just projects, but the confidence to change the world around them. As a BoB coach , you'll be trained, onboarded, and guided by your Site Supporter in equity-centered design thinking, relevant maker skills, and Dent's secret sauce to ensure you're equipped to go on this journey with our Denters. empathy, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing Manage Denter and host relationships to deliver a delightful experience. Coach Denters through collaborative problem-solving and solution development Support youth in applying Dent Mindsets to real challenges Guide teams in translating insights into actionable concepts and presentations Prepare Denters to present solutions clearly to peers, partners, and community audiences Create space for reflection, iteration, and feedback Prepare youth to earn Dent & IDEO U's AI x Design Thinking - Early Career Credential This position is for you if you are: Experience in nonprofit, social impact, innovation, or community-based work Familiarity with design thinking or human-centered design Comfort coaching youth through complex, open-ended challenges Passionate about our mission, mindsets , and commitment to equity Unwavering in your belief in each student's potential Resilient & able to troubleshoot when problems (opportunities) arise A self-starter who is dependable , responsible, resourceful, and action-oriented Organized, a good communicator , and have a sense of ownership for your projects Open to engaging and teaching with tech tools like Google Suite, Zoom,. Are from Baltimore and/or have a strong awareness of the city's social and cultural landscape Have over 2 years of Youth Development experience (teacher, coach, mentor, etc. Resilient & able to troubleshoot when problems (opportunities) arise A self-starter who is dependable , responsible, resourceful, and action-oriented Organized, a good communicator , and have a sense of ownership for your projects Open to engaging and teaching with tech tools like Google Suite, Zoom, , andTotal Compensation:
$4,548-$5,918 Total based on work & Dent experienceProgram Model:

Guidelines Regular time commitments include: Hosting daily sessions with youth in-person, 10am-4pm, Monday-Friday Hosting weekly Office Hours/One-On-One with Denters Adapting lesson plans & reviewing Denter work with Co-Coach Weekly check-in with your Site Supporter Weekly Dent-Wide staff meeting Hosting Food-For-Thought guest speakersDent-Wide Events:
