Don Bosco Cristo Rey delivers an affordable, accessible, career-focused college preparatory education in the Catholic tradition to students with limited resources. Every student participates in the Corporate Work Study Program where he/she gains professional work experience and earns money to pay for a portion of their own tuition. Commitment:
We are looking to develop continuity for our coaching staff. We ask that candidates commit to coaching the team for at least 2 years.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices workouts. Teach and develop fundamental and advanced volleyball skills, techniques, and game strategies. Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes during practices and competitions. Help evaluate player performance and contribute to decisions regarding team placement and playing time. Assist with game preparation and developing game plans. Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, team travel, and other team activities. Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and respect among student-athletes. Encourage academic achievement and positive character development. Help monitor the health, safety, and well-being of all student-athletes. Assist with equipment inventory, uniform distribution, and facility setup and cleanup. Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administrators, and officials. Participate in special activities that include Open House, the Parent/Athletic/Coaches (PAC) meetings, Student life/Award banquet, Pep rallies, Homecoming, and other activities if asked or needed. Report scores and team/player statistics to Director of Athletics after every game. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. Previous volleyball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred. Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies. Ability to effectively teach and motivate high school student-athletes. Valid Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. driver's license and driving record and ability to drive a 14-passenger minibus to athletic events. Coaches are expected to drive the 14-passenger minibus to games and to practice as often as needed. At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred. Applicants must complete and pass the Archdiocese of Washington background check and attend Child Protection Training.
