Job Description

Gradute Assistant for Strength and Conditioning The strength and conditioning GA will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to design, implement, and supervise sports specific strength and conditioning programs to reduce injury risk and maximize performance and assist in the supervision of the weight room and cardio fitness center. The GA will also also assist the Head Coach to develop nutrition plans and sport psychology programming for student-athletes to supplement physical training.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Design and implement sports-specific strength and conditioning programs for all intercollegiate athletic teams under the supervision of the head coach.
This includes working with coaches to determine the needs for their teams for each segment of the year, focusing on injury prevention with input from the athletic training staff, maximizing athletic performance for each sport, instructing the student-athletes on how to safely complete each program and supervising sessions.
  • Design strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes during winter break and summer recession
  • Collaborate with Sports Medicine to provide second layer of expertise/oversight of training programs.
  • Develop additional programming related to nutrition, sports psychology, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and other programming depending on expertise and skill set of incumbents.
  • Participate in athletics department staff meetings and departmental initiatives as assigned.
Education:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology or related field
Professional Experience:
Required:
2 years of experience working with collegiate athletic teams
Preferred:
Experience developing nutrition plans; experience coordinating sport psychology programs
