Part-time Friends School of Portland is seeking a Head Coach for the Cross Country team.
Cross Country at FSP The cross country season begins on the first Wednesday of the 2026-27 school year and runs through mid-to-late October (approximately 6-7 weeks).
Middle School Team:
The Head Coach leads practices on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:15 PM. Races take place on Wednesdays. If there is no race scheduled, a practice will be held instead.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead engaging, inclusive practice sessions for the middle school team.
Coach the middle school team through weekly races.
Work with the assistant coach to ensure all runners stay with the team during practices and competitions.
Support the elementary school assistant coach as needed throughout the season.
Ensure both the middle and elementary school teams are registered for league schedules and races.
Submit elementary and middle school rosters for race registrations.
Communicate regularly with middle school families regarding schedules, updates, and team needs.
Coordinate transportation for races and drive school vans.
Qualifications:
Drivers License
CPR Certification
Strong Organizational Skills
Experience Working with Grades 5-8
Schedule:
Monday and Thursdays, 2:45 pm-4:30 pm
Wednesdays, 2:45 pm
5:30 pm
Communication with families as needed
