Job Description

Position Title High School Tennis Coach Reports To Athletic Director Position Summary The High School Tennis Coach is responsible for organizing, developing, and leading a competitive and educational tennis program that promotes student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and academic success. The coach will provide instruction in fundamental and advanced tennis skills while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and conditioning sessions
  • Teach proper tennis fundamentals, techniques, rules, and strategies
  • Develop individual and team improvement plans
  • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character development
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and team events
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, administration, and athletic department staff
  • Monitor academic progress and encourage academic success among student-athletes
  • Maintain compliance with school, conference, district, and state athletic association rules and regulations
  • Coordinate match schedules, transportation, equipment, uniforms, and facility needs
  • Maintain and inventory tennis equipment and uniforms
  • Assist with offseason training opportunities and player development
  • Promote the tennis program within the school and community
  • Attend required athletic department meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and positive behavior at all times. Qualifications
  • Previous tennis coaching and/or playing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of tennis fundamentals, rules, and match strategy
  • Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with high school student-athletes
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Completion of all required state and district coaching certifications
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required during the season Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time
  • Ability to demonstrate tennis skills and drills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment related to team activities Terms of Employment
  • Seasonal stipend position
  • Length of season determined by district and athletic association guidelines
  • Compensation based on district-approved coaching salary schedule Evaluation Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Athletic Director and/or Building Principal in accordance with district procedures.
