B POSITION SUMMARY
The Berkley High School eSports Coach will lead the school's competitive esports program by creating a positive, inclusive, and student-centered environment. The coach will organize practices and competitions, mentor student participants, oversee participation in the PlayVS league, and promote teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and academic success. Practices are typically held after school 1-2 days per week, with additional responsibilities during competitions, tournaments, and championship events.QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess: Experience working with high school-aged students preferred Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds Commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusive participation Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Familiarity with competitive gaming platforms (PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch) or a willingness to learn Ability to manage multiple tasks and support students in a technology-rich environment Reliable transportationDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, and facilitate team practices and competitions Learn and follow PlayVS league procedures, rules, and required coach trainings Coach and mentor students by developing gameplay skills, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting scholarship opportunities Supervise students and maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming team environment. Recruit and retain participants while promoting the esports program within the school community Collaborate with the District Instructional Technology team to maintain esports equipment and facilities Participate in student recruitment events, including registration and elective fairs. Coordinate and attend postseason competitions and state championship events, when applicable Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff regarding team activities Perform other duties as assignedDEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS
