The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tennis, along with the ability to inspire and develop young athletes in a competitive environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among student-athletes while promoting the values of the school and athletic department. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the Junior Varsity Girls Tennis team, focusing on skill development, strategy, and fitness. Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a positive and productive environment for all athletes. Plan and manage the team's schedule, including practices, matches, and tournaments. Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach and other coaching staff to align training objectives and program goals. Monitor and evaluate athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement. Foster a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among players, coaches, and opponents. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, expectations, and player development. Ensure compliance with all MHSAA rules and regulations, as well as school policies. Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the program. Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and in good condition. Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in coaching and tennis. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in education, sport management, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience coaching tennis at the high school level or higher. Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, school staff, and parents. First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification. Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for practices and competitions. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for away matches and tournaments.
