Job Description

Job Summary:
The Middle School Volleyball Coach plays a vital role in shaping a positive and engaging athletic experience for student-athletes. This position is dedicated to building fundamental skills, confidence, and a love for the game while emphasizing teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth. The coach will create a supportive and energetic environment where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves, develop their abilities, and take pride in both individual and team accomplishments.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan and conduct practices focused on fundamental volleyball skills (serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defense) Teach game rules, strategies, and proper sportsmanship Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team activities Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment Responsible for arrangements and preparation of equipment, uniforms, and practice facilities Assist in coordinating game schedules, transportation, and equipment needs with the Athletic Director Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes Ensure compliance with school policies and MHSAA guidelines Support multi-sport participation and overall student development Respond appropriately to injuries and maintain athlete safety Ensure any athlete who is injured and requires a doctor or physical assistance care must have a release prior to participating in any practice or meet. This includes working closely with the athletic trainer who has the authority to hold any athlete from practice or competition Model professionalism and integrity through consistent attendance and positive leadership at all times Other duties as assigned
