NBC Competitive Cheer Coach

Job Description

The NBC Competitive Cheer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a competitive cheer program that promotes athletic excellence, teamwork, discipline, school spirit, and positive character. The coach will provide a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment in which student-athletes can develop cheerleading skills, confidence, leadership, and sportsmanship while representing the school and community. Education /
Qualification Requirements:
  • Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Ability to pass background checks required by the school district and state law
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Prior experience in coaching or competing in cheer at the high school or competitive youth level
  • Knowledge of competitive cheerleading techniques, rules, safety practices, and current trends.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Plan and conduct organized, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Teach and develop skills including jumps, motions, dance, tumbling, stunting, pyramids, choreography, and competitive routines as appropriate
  • Prioritize athlete safety and follow all school, district, state, and applicable cheerleading safety guidelines
  • Evaluate student-athletes and provide instruction and feedback to promote individual and team growth
  • Develop competition routines and prepare the team for competitions, performances, and school events
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, school spirit, respect, responsibility, and positive character
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for attendance, effort, behavior, academics, and team conduct
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, families, school staff, athletic administration, officials, and other coaches
  • Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices, competitions, and team-related activities
  • Maintain appropriate records, schedules, rosters, and other required program documentation
  • Ensure proper use, inspection, and care of cheerleading equipment and facilities
  • Attend required coaching meetings, training, professional development, competitions, and school activities
  • Serve as a positive role model and representative of the school and district
  • Other duties as assigned
