Job Description

Job Summary The Varsity Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the varsity basketball program. This includes developing student-athletes' basketball skills, promoting sportsmanship, fostering teamwork, and ensuring academic and personal growth. The coach will organize practices, oversee games, maintain compliance with school and athletic association policies, and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide a list of anticipated participants and ensure that all paper work regarding eligibility, roster, physicals, and signed athletic codes are turned into the Athletic Director prior to deadline Responsible for arrangements and preparation of equipment, uniforms, and practice facilities Assist in coordinating game schedules, transportation, and equipment needs with the Athletic Director Plan, organize, and conduct practices focused on fundamental skill development, conditioning, and game strategy Instruct athletes on rules, techniques, and sportsmanship in girls' basketball Promote the development of sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect among all players Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team events Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and the athletic department Support the academic goals of student-athletes by encouraging strong study habits and school engagement Check academic progress of players weekly Ensure compliance with all school policies and MHSAA rules and regulations Support offseason conditioning and player development Assist students in obtaining athletic/educational opportunities for post high school education Respond appropriately to injuries and ensure athlete safety at all times Model professionalism and integrity through consistent attendance and positive leadership at all times Other duties as assigned
