Swartz Creek High School Summary:
Swartz Creek High School is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach to support the varsity basketball program. The ideal candidate will assist in fostering a disciplined, competitive, and character-driven team culture. This role supports the head coach in all aspects of the program and requires a passion for mentorship, teamwork, and athletic development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong understanding of basketball techniques, rules, and strategies Ability to build positive relationships and motivate student-athletes Availability for practices, meets, tournaments, and team-related travel Current CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain
MHSAA CAP
1 or 2 certification (preferred) Prior basketball coaching or competitive experience (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach in organizing and running practices, matches, and tournaments Provide instruction, encouragement, and mentorship to student-athletes Ensure athlete safety and well-being during all team activities Uphold and enforce school, district, league, and MHSAA rules and policies Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability Maintain professional and respectful communication with athletes, families, officials, and staff Serve as a positive role model in conduct, language, and professionalism
