Job Description
Summary Tawas Area High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as the JV Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, a commitment to athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive and competitive team environment. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, leadership qualities, and a focus on sportsmanship and teamwork. Responsibilities Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all players. Coach the JV team during games, providing guidance and support to players on and off the court. Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration. Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and player progress. Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to ensure alignment in coaching philosophy and player development. Assist in the recruitment and retention of players, promoting the basketball program within the school and community. Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with basketball coaching techniques and strategies. Requirements Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the high school or middle school level. Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and player development techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative manner. A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies and procedures. Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
