USD Hourly Job Summary:

The Development Team Coach works with groups of young athletes to introduce them to the world of alpine skiing competition by developing a strong foundation for safety, learning, sportsmanship, and competition in a fun team environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Upholds the highest level of athlete safety on varied terrain with changing conditions. Ability to work with young athletes to develop their technique, race strategy and long-term goal setting. Willing and able to travel to Northland Junior Race Series (NJRS) races. Ensures that any courses and practice areas are prepped and ready prior to practice time. Takes athletes through courses during course inspection. Ensure athletes are on time for their runs. Attends awards sessions, and collects awards for students who are not present. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years of age by beginning of employment. Experience in alpine ski racing/training. Alpine coaching experience (preferred but not required). Ability to organize, direct and lead a group of young athletes. Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of people. Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities. Ability to learn and develop new skills. Ability to problem solve. Strong guest service skills. Strong communications skills, written and verbal.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift, carry and push up to 50lbs. Ability to stand in ski equipment for long periods of time. Ability to withstand cold and wet weather for long periods of time. Speech recognition and clarity, including ability to understand the speech of guests and co-workers, the ability to speak clearly so that guest and co-workers can understand you. Physical presence at job site is essential to perform job duties.

As a coach, you'll work with youth athletes to build their skills, confidence, and love for the sport in a supportive and fun team environment. You'll play a key role in fostering strong fundamentals while encouraging sportsmanship and a lifelong passion for skiing. Requirements Strong skiing ability Previous coaching, instructing, or leadership experienced with youth preferred Ability to provide clear instruction, encouragement and feedback Dependable, safety-focused, and team-oriented Possess knowledge of course setting and race day on-hill duties Must be able to work outdoors in varying winter conditions Why Join Giants Ridge?
