Job Description
Summary The Park Rapids School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join the Park Rapids High School athletics program as a Junior Varsity Boys Basketball coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position offers an opportunity to mentor young athletes, develop their skills, and foster a positive team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practice sessions to enhance player skills and team strategies. Assist in the development of individual player skills, fostering both on-court performance and personal growth. Prepare the team for games, including scouting opponents, developing game plans, and ensuring proper equipment is available. Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to maintain a cohesive coaching philosophy and approach. Monitor and evaluate player performance during practices and games, providing constructive feedback to support improvement. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and any relevant issues. Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies, including safety protocols and eligibility requirements. Attend all practices and games, as well as any required meetings or training sessions. Assist with team fundraising and community engagement initiatives as needed. Requirements Previous coaching experience or participation in basketball at the high school level or higher is preferred. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, athletes, and parents in a supportive and professional manner. Commitment to the principles of sportsmanship, teamwork, and player development. Must pass a background check and comply with any required training or certification. Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season. A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus. Must pass a background check.
