Joan Johnson, Activities Director Qualifications:
The 9th Grade Coach is responsible for providing strong leadership and guidance to student-athletes within the program. Working closely with the Activities Director and assistant coaches, the 9th Grade Coach will help define the goals and direction of the program. In addition, the 9th Coach is accountable for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of every student-athlete participating in the team at St. Francis High School.
Preferred:
Coaching experience at the high school level (or extensive experience working with developmental players). MN Coaching Certificate or completion of the MSHSL/National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Education Program. In-depth knowledge of the sport.
Successful Candidates Must Demonstrate Competency In:
Teaching and modeling character, leadership, and responsible behavior. Maintaining a positive, high-energy, and committed presence. Collaborating effectively with parents, staff, and community members. Defining success as both competitive achievement and personal growth of student-athletes. Major Areas of Responsibility Coordinate training, instruction, and conditioning of athletes alongside coaches. Follow all expectations and policies set forth by St. Francis Area Schools for Coaches. Maintain open communication with the Activities Director regarding team questions and concerns. Develop and organize effective practice plans that prepare athletes to compete in the conference. Promote good sportsmanship and fair play among players and coaching staff by following the Coaches Code of Ethics and conference Sportsmanship Guidelines. Adhere to MSHSL guidelines regarding season start/end dates and off-season coaching restrictions. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes during practices, competitions, and transportation. This includes supervision of the locker room when possible. Foster positive relationships with athletes and their families. Manage the timely distribution and collection of athletic equipment and uniforms, ensuring athletes are informed of their responsibilities. Organize a post-season team gathering. Actively recruit student-athletes at the youth, middle school, and high school levels. Complete all required district Vector Training modules for coaches. Participate in MSHSL clipboard modules for coaches. Represent the St. Francis activities program in a positive and professional manner within the school and the wider community. Perform other duties as assigned.
