Position Description:
Love Columbia is looking for a coaching specialist to work within our Side by Side Coaching Program to provide coaching for client referrals. A coaching specialist assesses clients' needs, assists clients with settings goals, and follows up for client success and sustainability. The coaching specialist's responsibilities include assisting clients with finding safe and affordable housing from a strengths-based and empowerment approach. Coaching may include one-on-one or classroom teaching formats.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, education, human services, social work, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in case management or coaching preferred.
  • Working knowledge of social service agencies and community services.
  • Knowledge of basic budgeting and tenancy skills.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  • Strong analytical, mediating, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and case management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with relational databases preferred.
  • Sensitive to different cultures and socioeconomic conditions.
  • Ability to obtain HUD Housing Counseling certification preferred.
Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Assessing clients' eligibility and determining their service needs.
  • Supporting clients with available resources to best meet their goals.
  • Assisting clients in completing rent assistance, housing, and other applications.
  • Collaborating with government agencies, community organizations, property owners, and employers.
  • Assisting with and teaching housing classes.
  • Ensuring clients understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants.
  • Supporting clients as they obtain and maintain tenancy.
  • Providing clients with information and referring them to additional support programs or services.
  • Preparing and maintaining daily logs, records, activity documentation, and reports.
  • Understanding and adhering to program rules and restrictions.
  • Obtaining documentation for grant compliance and maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Data entry, reporting, and editing of client records in the client database.
  • Assisting with the closure of cases.
These duties are representative, but not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Work Environment This position includes a includes a mix of office-based work and community-based activities, including meetings at program and partner sites. The employee may need to sit, stand, walk short distances, and travel between work locations. The employee may need to sit, stand, and walk short distances. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Some evening or weekend hours are needed to accommodate program scheduling, typically once per month. Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
