Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as an assistant coach for the Envirothon team at Hamilton High School. This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in environmental science, outdoor education, and youth mentorship. The Envirothon Assistant Coach will work closely with the head coach to prepare students for the annual Envirothon competition, fostering a love for nature and environmental stewardship among participants. Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach in planning and organizing training sessions and practice activities focused on environmental science topics.
  • Support students in developing their knowledge and skills in areas such as ecology, forestry, soil science, and wildlife management.
  • Help coordinate field trips and hands-on learning experiences that enhance students' understanding of environmental issues.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their performance.
  • Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and a positive attitude among team members.
  • Assist in preparing students for competitions, including organizing study materials and practice tests.
  • Attend all scheduled practices, competitions, and team meetings, and maintain open communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all team members.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to team management, including record-keeping and event logistics. Requirements
  • Strong interest in environmental science, ecology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with youth in an educational or coaching capacity is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage students in learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the competition season.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, students, and school staff.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
