Job Description

Job Summary Hamilton High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our boys basketball program as the Head Coach. This seasonal position is responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the court, fostering a positive and competitive environment, and promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The Head Coach will work closely with players, parents, and school administration to ensure a successful and enriching basketball season. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances the skills and performance of student-athletes.
  • Plan and conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
  • Organize and oversee all aspects of the boys basketball program, including scheduling games, transportation, and equipment management.
  • Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they maintain eligibility to participate in the sport.
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to provide a well-rounded basketball experience.
  • Scout and evaluate opponents to prepare the team for competition.
  • Attend all games and events associated with the basketball season, including pre-season meetings and post-season evaluations.
  • Uphold and enforce all school and athletic department policies and procedures. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
  • Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain prior to the season.
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check as required by school district policy.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
