Employment:

Seasonal Part time position Position Description A Loyola Sacred Heart (LSH) Head Coach will lead an athletic team throughout its particular season including training sessions, practices, and competitions. A Head Coach will serve as a role model for the athletes, teaching them sportsmanship and proper conduct as an athlete, along with the skills and strategies necessary to play the game well. The Coach also serves as the face of the team, representing them in various settings and they communicate with different groups, including parents. A Head Coach ensures that all athletes meet any eligibility requirements for regular season games, various competitions and tournaments. A Head Coach will work directly with the Athletic Director. Strong organizational, communication, leadership and public relation skills are necessary to succeed in this role. This individual must work well with high school students and their parents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Responsible for coordinating sport tryouts o Ensure unwavering sportsmanship within the team and during all events o Planning and leading practice sessions o Creating strategies to lead the team to victory in competitions o Provide positive feedback and coaching during all practices and competitions o Be present at all functions, or arrange for other coverage, and provide crowd control for all home events in keeping with MHSA sportsmanship directives and the mission of the school o Maintain the equipment and facilities to ensure safe playing conditions o Supervise and help all Assistant Coaches to perform efficiently o Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: o Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules o Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of coaching specialty o Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with student-athletes and parents o Knowledge of techniques and strengthening and conditioning methods o Must complete the DOH Safe Environment Training (Virtus) and have a clean background check PRIOR to any coaching with the athletes. o Able to lift and/or move equipment - some over 50+ pounds

Other:

Ensure all assistants and volunteer coaches are Virtus Trained, up to date on their monthly Virtus Bulletins, and have a clean background check with the Diocese of Helena.
