Hours per week 40 FLSA Status Exempt Division Athletics Department Athletics (Adm) Work Location Salary Range $45,000 Primary Purpose of Department The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational programs. With a balanced program that supports opportunities for all students and staff, the department promotes a total person concept that provides its student-athletes with the necessary tools to be successful in academic, athletic, and social settings. The Department of Athletics supports the highest ethical standards of the University, the NCAA, and Conference Affiliation. Primary Purpose of Position Provide an environment where student-athletes can succeed both academically and athletically in men's tennis. Summary of Position Responsibilities Provide instruction, training, and motivation to prepare student athletes for practices, games, or competitive events. Demonstrate/instruct student athletes on sport performance principles, game strategies, and safety rules. Provide sport program management to the head coach. Evaluate student athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits or to improve the current student athletes' technique to prepare them for competition. Serve as a mentor to student athletes with academic and personal issues. Provide functional supervision to temporary student employees. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree Has 1-4 years of work experience as an assistant tennis coach at an NCAA Division I institution (men's team experience preferred) Can show evidence of successful scouting and recruiting experience, both nationally and internationally Has experience playing tennis at the NCAA DI level Should be well-traveled and have experienced different cultures Should have in-depth knowledge of Division I sports (tennis specifically) and the ability to make match management decisions Can communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and players in the United States and worldwide due to the global nature of the tennis program Will work independently as well as function effectively in a team, and with varying groups from across campus. Should be detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment Should know of and be confident in using Excel and PowerPoint Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Necessary Certifications/Licenses Preferred Certifications/Licenses Special Notes to Applicants The finalist will be subject to a Criminal ground Check and/or a Motor Vehicle Report The Search Committee will not contact references without first verifying permission with the finalist.
