POSITION PURPOSE
The Athletic Coach at NEAAAT demonstrates high moral character and superior teaching practices. Athletic coaches teach good sportsmanship as the number one priority on the athletic field and work with the faculty and staff to support the academic and athletic success of each player. Athletic coaches abide by The NEAAAT Way and place tremendous value on facilitating Mindset, Toolset, and Skillset development among students to prepare them for life beyond high school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching Instill in student athletes a positive growth mindset. Develop a student athlete's skill set in order to build a successful athletic program. Hold, maintain and communicate appropriate practice schedules. Supervise and travel with the team to game destinations. Maintain proper paperwork on each student athlete. Conduct yourself professionally to represent NEAAAT in a positive manner at all times. Uphold NEAAAT board policies. Communicate to NEAAAT administration any schedule changes by 10am each day a change is necessary. Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled time of practice. Ensure the physical safety of all students at all times, including remaining on premises until each student is picked up from practices/games or events associated with the assigned sport. Immediately notify NEAAAT administration if adverse or otherwise unacceptable behavior among and/or between students, parents, personnel, volunteers, or others occurs while engaged in NEAAAT athletic duties. Notify NEAAAT administration if/when injuries occur and take appropriate action immediately to ensure the health and safety of students. Maintain safe and orderly practice conditions, including daily inspections of fields, courts, etc. Ensure facilities and equipment are appropriately maintained, including overseeing regular after practice/competition maintenance (cleanliness and tidiness of facility, equipment, and/or bus) Other Serves as a primary brand ambassador for the school and, in doing so, models a personal commitment to excellence and strong adherence to the school's core values through verbal/written communications, behaviors and actions. Builds and maintains effective relationships with employers, community leaders and organizations for the purpose of garnering resources and expanding program opportunities for students and staff. Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude toward the job and remains a highly flexible, adaptable and innovative team builder. Effectively contributes to the formation and growth of highly effective teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the athletic activity/sport. Understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success. Ability to work effectively in a collegial, team-centered environment. Intrinsically motivated and dedicated to continuous professional and personal growth. Knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations as established by NEAAAT and the relevant rule-making body (e.g.
NCHSAA, NCDPI
). Knowledge of appropriate practices to maintain the health and safety of program participants. Represent the school positively in the community. Excellent organizational skills and communication skills. Ability to cultivate effective relationships with parents, students, and other organizations. ? Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously without direct supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress and adapt when confronted with emergency situations. Knowledge of confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal laws and regulations. ? Physical ability (able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. Ability and willingness to devote substantial time and effort in order to maximize effectiveness and meet program deadlines. Education, Training, Experience Experience in coaching middle or high school students is preferred. First Responder Certification preferred. Certification and License Requirements None. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in reference to local standards.
