This position supports the Head Men's Basketball Coach in developing student-athletes on and off the court while helping lead a competitive basketball program. The successful candidate will play an important role in recruiting, player development, team preparation, and the overall student-athlete experience. Key Responsibilities Coaches and Recruits Men's Basketball Athletes Assist the Head Men's Basketball Coach in planning, directing, and coaching an intercollegiate men's basketball program. Recruit quality student-athletes and support their individual, academic, and team goals. Provide quality coaching and instruction while helping student-athletes reach their full potential in a positive environment. Assist with planning and coordinating team practices, conditioning, activity travel, and competition schedules. Coordinate and conduct basketball camps and clinics. Prepare game scouts and assist with game planning and opponent preparation. Assist with student-athlete conduct, conflict resolution, positive relationship development, and campus integration. Travel with teams to competitions and assist with game-day operations, including gymnasium setup and preparation. Ensure team practice gear and game uniforms are clean, organized, and prepared for daily use and competition. Attend college, department, and division meetings as required. Maintain compliance with applicable athletic association, college, and department rules and regulations. Miscellaneous Duties Support innovation, creativity, and ideas that improve or enhance departmental and college processes and functions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men's Basketball Coach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of intercollegiate basketball program concepts/strategies and NAIA Rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner. Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations. Knowledge of recruiting practices, ability to assess athletic talent, and promote Bismarck State College and its basketball program to potential students. Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both within the College and the community. Knowledge of and skill in use of computers and software applications, specifically Microsoft Office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience coaching and/or playing basketball. Prior college coaching experience preferred CPR and First Aid Certified.
