Club Hockey Coach University of Nebraska at Omaha - 4.1 Omaha, NE Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Position Information Job Title Club Hockey Coach Department Campus Recreation and Wellness Essential Functions Sport Club Coaches help the team succeed by shaping skills, strategy, motivation and overall growth. The Coach will teach skills, guide development, plan team strategies, lead practices and games, motivate and support the team so the players can perform at their best. The coach will teach rules, techniques and fundamentals of the sport. They should be able to break down complex skills, help players improve, and build game awareness. They study opponents, plan tactics, set goals, and design practice sessions that prepare the team for real-game situations. The coach prepares players physically including strength, endurance, and injury prevention. They inspire confidence and encourage players through setbacks, creating a supportive environment that keeps athletes focused and driven. The coach should be able to guide personal growth, discipline, sportsmanship and decision making. The coach must be able to analyze performance, identify strengths and weaknesses and adjust training to help each athlete grow. Coaches are selected by the club each year. The student members of the club vote for coach approval. Continuation of coaching duties is not automatic. It is up to the club's discretion whether to pay for the coach's travel expenses (travel, hotel, etc.). The coach should restrict his/her contributions to coaching and refrain from activities involved in the club's management. A Sport Club is first for the students. The student representatives, not the coach, must serve as the voice of the club. Coach/Instructor responsibilities according to the coach's agreement: The coach instructor must abide by all rules and regulations of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Campus Recreation and Wellness, the Sport Club program, and the UNO Student Code of Conduct. Coaches/Instructors are agents of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and should always keep the university's best interest in mind when dealing with anyone regarding all club matters. Coaches/Instructors are part time University employees and are not covered by university health insurance and benefits plans. All coaches/Instructors must complete, sign, and submit the annual coach agreement and prior to assuming duties. The coach/Instructor will submit to the club a written summary of his/her qualifications, listing specific skills, certifications, and coaching experience. The written summary or resume must be attached to the agreement. It is highly recommended that the coach/instructor purchases his/her own medical insurance to cover any personal injuries the coach may incur, Coaches/Instructors are limited only to coaching/instructing at practice and/or competitions. Participation in activities that are not directly related to coaching/instructing responsibilities, or the unauthorized use of equipment shall result in the immediate removal from the position. Coaches/Instructors should exercise reasonable care and caution in the execution of all coaching/instructing duties to reduce the risk of injury for all involved. Coaches/Instructors should restrict their contribution to those involving knowledge, expertise, and skill in a particular activity. Involvement in other areas of budget and club management is limited to being an advisor to the club leaders. Non-student coaches are not eligible for club membership and are prohibited from playing in competitions. Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are strongly recommended for all Sport Club coaches/instructors. If one is currently certified, a copy of certification cards needs to be submitted to the Sport Club office. Deviations from this list of responsibilities must be addressed in the coach's agreement.
