Position Summary
Winnisquam Regional Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Head Coach for the Middle School Boys B Basketball team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading a competitive basketball program for middle school students, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Training:
Develop and implement practice plans and game strategies that align with the school's athletic philosophy. Conduct practices, drills, and conditioning sessions to enhance players' skills and game understanding.
Game Management:
Oversee all aspects of game day, including strategy, player rotation, and in-game decision-making. Ensure that the team is prepared and motivated for each game.
Player Development:
Provide individualized and team-wide feedback to help players improve their skills. Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages growth and teamwork.
Communication:
Maintain open and effective communication with players, parents, and school administrators. Address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with school policies, safety guidelines, and relevant athletic regulations. Monitor and enforce the proper use of equipment and facilities.
Team Building:
Promote a strong sense of team spirit and unity. Organize team-building activities and create a positive team culture.
Administrative Duties:
Handle administrative tasks related to the team, including scheduling practices alongside athletic director, managing equipment, and maintaining records of team performance and player progress.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is highly desirable. Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies is essential.
Skills:
Excellent leadership and motivational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Certifications:
Current CPR/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained upon hiring. NFHS Concussion course.
Background Check:
Must pass a criminal background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
CONTRACT/STIPEND
Coaches are contracted for a term of one (1) season. Stipend amount will be disclosed prior to offer acceptance.
