Youth Basketball Coach / Program Staff - Winter Recreation Program Future Stars Sports - Madison, NJ Part-Time / Seasonal Future Stars Sports is looking for energetic, dependable, and positive staff members to help run our winter recreational basketball program for 1st-3rd grade boys and girls in Madison, NJ . This is an hourly staff position working alongside the Program Director and other coaches. We are looking for people who enjoy working with children, understand the basics of basketball, and can help create a fun, organized, and positive environment each week. Our program focuses on teaching young players the fundamentals of basketball through skill stations, fun games, competitions, and age-appropriate gameplay. Responsibilities Help run basketball skill stations and drills Teach basic skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, layups, and defense Lead fun basketball games and competitions Help organize players into groups and keep stations moving Demonstrate drills and provide basic instruction Encourage and engage players throughout the session Help supervise small-sided games such as 1-on-1, 2-on-2, and 3-on-3 Assist with setup and cleanup when needed Work with the Program Director to keep the program organized and on schedule Maintain a positive, energetic, and safe environment for all players Who We're Looking For Ideal candidates are: Energetic and outgoing Reliable and punctual Comfortable working with children in 1st-3rd grade Familiar with basic basketball skills and rules Able to communicate clearly with young players Patient and encouraging Willing to be active and involved throughout each session Able to work well as part of a coaching staff Previous coaching experience is helpful but not required . Basketball playing experience is preferred. This is a great position for: College students High school graduates Current or former basketball players Youth coaches Teachers or education majors Anyone interested in coaching or working with children Program Format Each grade participates in a one-hour session. Players rotate through basketball skill stations, fun games, weekly competitions, and gameplay. Staff members will be assigned to stations and small groups while the Program Director oversees the overall program. The program serves both boys and girls in grades 1-3 . Schedule This is a weekend winter position running for approximately 8 weeks . Applicants should have consistent weekend availability during the program.
