SUMMARY OF POSITION
To organize, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive JV Girls' Volleyball program to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment in the sport of Girls' Volleyball and stress the importance of academic achievement and social responsibility, while modeling a high degree of ethics and professionalism. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and the Head Coach.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Establish and monitor rules, regulations and procedures as needed for the student-athletes participating which conform to the school, NJSIAA, NJISAA, Somerset County and Skyland Conference policies. In conjunction with the Athletic Director and Head Coach, order and maintain supplies. Instruct and advise athletes on eligibility, rules and regulations, sportsmanship, and citizenship. Prepare forms, reports, inventory, and recommendations as required. Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records. Establish procedures for communicating with team and parents/guardians. Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program. Provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions. Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment. Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or athletic trainer immediately and implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations. Assume responsibility for locker rooms and other areas used by the team. Maintain necessary confidentiality of medical conditions as appropriate. In conjunction with the Director of Athletics, Head Coach, and Athletic Administrator, maintain a schedule that conforms to the NJSIAA, NJISAA, Somerset County and Skyland Conference. Other duties as assigned or required by the demands of the position and administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must maintain annual certification in NJSIAA Coaching Coursework Requirements; Fundaments in Coaching, First Aid, CPR, AED, Concussion, Heat Acclimatization, Be Kind, and Implicit Bias training. Availability until the conclusion of practice and/or for home and away athletic contests which may occur at night or on weekends. Demonstrated experience and competencies for performance responsibilities. Required criminal background check and proof of US citizenship or legal alien status.
