1. Coordinate activities in the guidance and counseling program; 2. Consults with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students; 3. Provide counseling in family, group or individual settings; 4. Coordinates all counseling services for students and assists with the coordination and implementation of student services in the school. Facilitate guidance activities for students, staff and parents; 5. Conduct functional behavioral assessment and develop behavioral intervention plans; 6. Accurately interprets test results and other student data. The counselor also assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies; 7. Adheres to ethical standards of the counseling profession, and abides by the laws, policies, and procedures that govern the schools. The counselor also participates in professional associations and upgrades professional knowledge and skills when needed. 8. Collaboration in student assistance teams; 9. The Program Head Coach must demonstrate strong leadership in player and staff development, integrity, sportsmanship, and character development. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of their sport as it pertains to the policies of New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA).General:
1. Follows and upholds the policies and mission statement of Bloomfield School District. Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local/state/federal laws and the NMAA. 1. Foster among student-athletes, coaches and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, a desire to perform at the highest levels, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, family, and community. This job also requires the head coach to assume a major role in the development of our youth as future leaders. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills and safety awareness are key requirements. 1. Emphasis on the importance of academic excellence and assist in monitoring and maintaining high academic standards for members of the program. The Assistant Coach must demonstrate leadership in player and staff development, integrity, sportsmanship and character development. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of their sport as it pertains to the policies of New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA).General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in implementing a written team rules which includes a philosophy statement and discusses acceptable player behavior, practice procedures, substance abuse policies and other guidelines that relate to program management. Conduct a pre-season meeting with parents and players to share these policies and procedures. 2. Have a thorough knowledge of all District and the NMAA Policies and be responsible for their implementation. 3. Understand and follow the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels. 4. Continue professional growth by attending classes, clinics, workshops, and affiliations with professional organizations. 5. Conduct oneself as a positive role model. 6. Assist the head coach in implementing all team rules. 7. Turn in team rosters as directed to the head coach. 8. Report all rule violations or suspected violations to the head coach. 9. Consult with the Head Coach, or his/her designee, in matters of purchasing equipment, scheduling, and coaching assignments. 10. Work to develop a positive athlete-teacher relationship. 11. Coaches must ensure that all athletes participating in their sport are academically eligible. This includes checking grades before the start of the season and during the season as well. Every student athlete must remain eligible according to NMAA policies. 12. Assist in implementing a sport specific safety plan. This includes a hazards free practice environment. If something needs to be fixed place a district work order to fix that problem immediately and report it to your head coach. 13. Be responsible for the collection of equipment and have athletic fines resolved by the end of the season. 14. Prepare travel rosters and itineraries prior to the 24 hours of departure. 15. Remain at practice or contest until all athletes have left the athletic area. 16. Inspect locker room with the visiting coach before and after contest. 17. A Staff member must ride the team bus to and from practices or contest. 18. Require appropriate behavior on road trips by supervising students in motels and restaurants. 19. Promote and encourage fair play, good sportsmanship, and ethical standards of conduct both on and off the field. 20. Forewarn all participants that involvement in physical confrontation could result in removal from game and /or suspension from subsequent games. 21. Maintain a yearly inventory of all new and used equipment. 22. Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local/state/federal laws and theNMAA. 23.
Coaches are required to upload athlete rosters into NMAA approved database. 24. Perform additional job responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. 25. By his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant. 26. Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies. 27. Completes reports of all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic office within 24 hours. Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians. 28. Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible. 29. Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection. 30. - Refer athletes with possible infections to a healthcare provider such as team physician, athletic trainer, school nurse or primary care doctor.
- Instruct athletes with a potential or confirmed infection or open wound to avoid using whirlpools or therapy pools not cleaned between athletes and other common-use water facilities like swimming pools until infections and wounds are healed.
- Review and implement cleaning and disinfecting guidelines-recommended by
CDC:
Environmental Cleaning & Disinfecting for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureas {aka MRSA}.- Educate athletes about ways to prevent spreading infections.

- Equipment/Materials relevant to job responsibilities
- Motor vehicle, if necessary defensive driving certification.
