Position Overview:
The Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach is responsible for the leadership, organization, development, and supervision of the varsity basketball program. The coach will provide a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that supports the athletic, academic, and personal growth of student-athletes. The coach will collaborate with athletes, families, coaches, school administration, and athletic department staff to ensure a safe and successful program aligned with district expectations.
Required Qualifications:
Valid New York State teaching license, and/or NYSED coaching certification Completion of all required NYSPHSAA, Section 1, New York State, and district coaching requirements, including First Aid, CPR, AED, child abuse, violence prevention, DASA and Mandated Reporting. Prior coaching experience, preferably at the high school or varsity level. Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, skills, strategies, and game management. Ability to work effectively with high school student-athletes, families, coaches, and school personnel.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Varsity coach is responsible for all aspects of the varsity team, including but not limited to: Communicate program expectations, goals, policies, and standards to student-athletes, families, coaches, and school administration. Serve as the primary point of contact for student-athletes, families, basketball coaches, and school administrators. Establish and communicate a clear program philosophy, goals, and expectations. Plan and conduct practices focused on skill development, teamwork, conditioning, strategy, and sportsmanship. Develop and communicate an objective rubric for the 3-5 day tryout process to ensure fair and equitable evaluation. Develop and maintain practice and competition schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Department. Manage team uniforms and equipment, including issuing, collecting, inventorying, and reporting equipment needs. Attend all scheduled games, practices, coaches' meetings, and required athletic department activities. Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and games. Follow all district policies and comply with NYSPHSAA, Section 1, and New York State regulations.

The candidate will demonstrate: Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, rules, and player development. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. A commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes. The ability to establish positive relationships with student-athletes, families, coaches, and school personnel. A commitment to collaboration, sportsmanship and safety with the Athletic Director, coaching staff, school administration, and other athletic programs. Engage in ongoing professional growth and development as a coach.
Salary:
