Job Description
Description Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) JV - Head Girls Volleyball Coach (Seasonal Position) The Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) Athletic Department is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and student-centered JV - Head Girls Volleyball Coach to lead and develop our volleyball program. The ideal candidate will build a competitive program that reflects the mission and values of SAS by placing student-athletes first while fostering leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth alongside academic achievement. Position Responsibilities Plan, organize, and supervise all team practices, competitions, and program activities. Teach and develop volleyball fundamentals, individual skills, team strategies, and good sportsmanship. Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture where every student-athlete feels valued and supported. Promote academic excellence by monitoring student-athletes' academic progress and reinforcing the expectations of Syracuse Academy of Science. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administrators, faculty, officials, and opposing schools. Ensure compliance with all Syracuse Academy of Science, Section III Athletics, and New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) rules and regulations. Maintain accurate team records, equipment inventories, and required athletic documentation. Attend all required coaches' meetings, professional development sessions, and athletic department events. Represent Syracuse Academy of Science with professionalism, integrity, and school pride both on and off the court. Minimum Qualifications Previous volleyball coaching experience and/or competitive playing experience preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to mentor, motivate, and positively influence high school student-athletes. Commitment to developing student-athletes both academically and athletically. Must be eligible for appointment as a coach through the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Must possess or be eligible to obtain a
