Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an Age Group Assistant Coach for Rivertown Rays a USA Swimming Club. In this energetic role, you will support the development of young swimmers by assisting with training sessions, fostering a positive and encouraging environment, and helping to implement age-appropriate coaching strategies. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in youth sports coaching, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the growth of aspiring swimmers. Your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire children to reach their full potential both in and out of the pool. Responsibilities Assist lead Head coach in planning and executing engaging swim practices tailored to various age groups and skill levels Supervise children during practice sessions, ensuring safety and proper behavior management at all times Support the implementation of youth development programs, including skill drills, water safety education, and team-building activities Help monitor and enforce pool safety protocols, including first aid procedures, CPR, AED operation, and emergency response plans Facilitate positive interactions among swimmers, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence Maintain a clean and organized pool environment, including equipment setup and breakdown Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding swimmer progress and program updates Skills Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings such as camps, and youth sports development Maintian all USA Swimming Coaching Skills for Certifications Knowledge of first aid procedures, CPR certification, AED operation, and emergency response protocols Proven ability to supervise children safely while engaging them in fun and educational activities Leadership skills demonstrated through previous team or youth group activity facilitation Excellent communication skills for collaborating with coaches, parents, and children Ability to manage behavior effectively through positive reinforcement techniques Experience in teaching or tutoring young children in sports or academic settings enhances your candidacy Required Qualifications Current USA Swimming Coach Membership in good standing or working to that position. Knowledge of USA Swimming rules and regulations. Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques and training principles. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to motivate swimmers of varying ages and skill levels. Performance Expectations Success in this position is measured by: Athlete development and retention. Safe and well-organized practices. Positive communication with families and staff. Compliance with USA Swimming requirements. Professional representation of the club at practices and competitions.
