JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Instructor for Programs is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach people of all ages, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community. The position involves top rope belaying for participants and facilitating games/activities. It may also include teaching adult introductory belay, bouldering or technique skill classes, and/or leading classes, all while managing risks for participants during our various programs. There is potential to train other instructors on youth focused classes based on gym need and appropriate training. Part-time instructors are primarily working with youth between the ages of 4-17 or adults for 2-4 hours per class, depending on the program. Some of these programs for adults and youth may be recurring and involve supporting team culture in line with program goals. At least some prior climbing experience is required, but we are excited to help individuals who are excited to learn, grow as climbers and instructors!
Note:
We're hiring coaches for both our Recreational Youth Programs and our Competitive & Development Team Programs! Recreational Youth Programs introduce young climbers to the sport in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment. Coaches help participants build confidence, develop fundamental climbing skills, foster a love of movement, and create positive experiences for climbers of all abilities. If you're passionate about mentoring kids, creating an encouraging atmosphere, and helping climbers discover the sport, this may be the perfect fit. Competitive & Development Team Programs focus on long-term athlete development, technical skill progression, competition preparation, strength and movement training, goal setting, and helping motivated climbers reach their full potential while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive training culture. Competitive coaches may also have opportunities to travel with athletes to USA Climbing competitions throughout the season. Previous experience as a competitive climber and/or coach is highly valued, but not required. If you don't have a competitive climbing background, don't stress—our recreational coaching program may be a better fit, and we'd still love to hear from you.
