Head Cheerleader Coach Community Christian College - Ohio Valley Cleveland, OH Job Details Contract $15,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Qualifications CPR Certification Sports coaching Working with children Working with students Sports Full Job Description Ohio Valley Community Christian College (OVCCC) is seeking an energetic, disciplined, and student-centered Cheerleading Coach to lead and build our collegiate cheer program. This role includes full program oversight, from recruitment and training to logistics and staffing. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of developing a program infrastructure while fostering a competitive and spirited team culture. In this dynamic leadership role, you will inspire and develop cheerleading teams that embody enthusiasm, discipline, and school pride. Your passion for sports coaching, physical education, and youth mentorship will help foster a positive environment where students thrive both on and off the field. As the guiding force behind our cheerleading program, you will design engaging routines, promote teamwork, and ensure safety while cultivating a vibrant school spirit. Key Responsibilities Recruit, train, and retain student-athletes for the cheerleading program Plan and conduct practices, conditioning sessions, and skill development Choreograph routines for game days, competitions, and special events Schedule team activities, events, and competitions Secure and coordinate a home field/location for performances and events Identify and arrange practice facilities and training space Recruit, hire, and supervise assistant coaches and support staff Coordinate team appearances at football, basketball, and campus events Ensure compliance with NJCAA (or applicable league) rules and college policies Promote academic success, discipline, and personal development among team members Manage program logistics, including uniforms, equipment, and travel Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture Offer scholarships to athletes enrolled. Lead the planning and execution of cheerleading practices, routines, and performances that showcase energy and precision Develop tailored training programs to improve cheerleading skills, including stunts, jumps, dance routines, and tumbling techniques Mentor students in sports coaching principles, behavior management, and team dynamics to build confidence and camaraderie Oversee safety protocols during practices and performances, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to health standards Coordinate with school staff to organize competitions, pep rallies, and community events that promote school spirit Foster a positive environment by encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership among cheerleaders Incorporate physical education elements such as strength training, flexibility exercises, and conditioning to enhance athletic performance Qualifications Prior coaching or cheerleading experience (collegiate level preferred) Strong knowledge of stunting, tumbling, choreography, and safety standards Proven ability to build and manage a program independently CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes from diverse backgrounds Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend Experience launching or rebuilding an athletic program Established recruiting network Experience managing staff or assistant coaches Background in athletics, kinesiology, or a related field Proven experience in cheerleading coaching or leadership roles within sports or youth programs Background in sports coaching with a focus on team development and performance enhancement Demonstrated teaching ability with children or adolescents in a physical activity setting Knowledge of martial arts disciplines such as Karate or Judo is a plus for stunt safety and discipline training Experience working with students in health clubs or gym environments is desirable Familiarity with behavior management techniques to motivate diverse groups of young athletes Certifications in lifeguarding or swimming are advantageous for integrating water safety into programs involving aquatic activities Contract Details This position is classified as a 1099 independent contractor role , not a W-2 employee position $7,500 per sport season.
