Job Description

The Secondary Instructional Coach supports student achievement and growth by working collaboratively with teachers in grades 9-12 to enhance instructional practices, strengthen content delivery, and promote student engagement. This non-evaluative role focuses on job-embedded professional learning through cognitive coaching, data-informed decision-making, and the implementation of research-based instructional strategies aligned with district goals, secondary-level standards and an MTSS framework.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with teachers to plan, model, co-teach, and reflect on effective instructional strategies across content areas Support the implementation of district curriculum, instructional frameworks, and assessment practices at the secondary level Collaborate with teachers and teams to analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly Facilitate professional learning opportunities, including PLCs, department meetings, and targeted professional development sessions Provide support in differentiated instruction, classroom management, and student engagement strategies Assist teachers with instructional strategies that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and college/career readiness Provide coaching support in classroom management, student motivation, and instructional delivery in a secondary setting Stay current on research-based instructional practices, content-specific pedagogy, and secondary education trends Maintain confidentiality and build positive, trusting relationships with staff
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education Valid state teaching license appropriate for grades 6-12 Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level Demonstrated effectiveness in improving student achievement Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field Experience as an instructional coach, department chair, or teacher leader Strong content knowledge in one or more secondary subject areas Experience with data analysis, assessment systems, and instructional planning Knowledge of college and career readiness standards and practices
Physical Demands:
Ability to move throughout the school building, including classrooms, labs, and meeting spaces Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds Frequent use of technology, including computers and instructional tools
Working Conditions:
