Reports To:
Athletic Director / Principal Position Overview Clinton High School is seeking a dedicated, high-energy Wrestling Coach to lead our student-athletes on and off the mat. We are looking for a leader who can cultivate a culture of discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship while maintaining the proud athletic traditions of our community. While teaching duties are currently "To Be Determined," the successful candidate will be expected to integrate seamlessly into the academic environment and serve as a mentor for students in all aspects of campus life.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership:
Oversee all aspects of the wrestling program, including Varsity, Junior Varsity, and coordination with middle school feeder programs.
Technical Instruction:
Develop and implement comprehensive practice plans focusing on technique, strength and conditioning, and match strategy.
Student Development:
Monitor the academic progress and character development of student-athletes, ensuring they meet eligibility requirements and represent CHS with integrity.
Administrative Duties:
Manage the program budget, equipment inventory, tournament scheduling, and travel logistics in coordination with the Athletic Department.
Community Engagement:
Build strong relationships with parents, alumni, and the Clinton community to promote the wrestling program and encourage student participation.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all activities adhere to OSSAA (Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association) regulations and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
Qualifications Experience:
Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is preferred. A proven track record of developing competitive athletes is a plus.
Certification:
Must hold (or be eligible for) a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate.
Skills:
Strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills. Deep knowledge of wrestling rules, scoring, and weight management safety.
Requirements:
Ability to pass a background check and maintain required coaching certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching).
