Responsible for assisting Head Tennis Coach with the management of overall sports program including recruiting, scouting, scheduling, rules compliance, academic performance, conditioning, and training of staff and student athletes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and adhere to applicable NCAA, Conference, University, and departmental rules and regulations. Upon notification of any NCAA violation, report the violation to the Assistant Athletic Director or Director of Athletics and follow applicable procedures for reporting and investigating violation with the NCAA. Direct and assist in the scouting and recruitment of quality student-athletes, to include on-campus visits of prospective student-athletes. Coordinate eligibility checks to ensure that prospective student-athletes qualify for grants-in-aid and admission by the Registrar. Oversee all contact with prospective student-athletes to ensure NCAA rules are followed. Direct and assist in coaching duties, to include evaluating performance in both practice and competition and provide leadership and instruction in areas of deficiency, as required. Take an active interest in the academic progress and disciplinary and personal matters of each student-athlete. Work closely with the Director for Academic Services and other University administrators to resolve problems. Strive to prevent academic eligibility problems and assist with enforcement of the mandatory study program. Take an active interest in public relations activities, as approved, to include conducting interviews with newspaper, radio and television media, attending press conferences and making public appearances. Attend required departmental social functions. Speak at civic groups as required. Solicit athletic department donors through various promotional activities sponsored by the department to supplement the sports program existing budget. Promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program; to include adhering to all Departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA. Perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
: Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent knowledge and experience.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
: Two to four years of related experience is preferred. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point is preferred. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to make independent decisions and judgments on administrative and procedural issues. Ability to analyze facts to determine actions to be taken within the limits of standard practice.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work schedule varies, depending on game days and times. Also, several evenings per week spent scouting and recruiting.
