Stipend-based (commensurate with district collective bargaining agreements) Position Summary The Knowledge Bowl Head Coach is responsible for the overall organization, development, instruction, and supervision of a successful interscholastic academic team. The primary goal is to foster a positive, inclusive team culture centered around student growth, sportsmanship, and academic accountability.
Key Responsibilities Program Management :
Plan, organize, and facilitate weekly practices, mock meets, and study sessions.
Student Development :
Instruct students in fundamental strategy, time-management, specific academic content, and team buzz-in mechanics.
Event Supervision :
Manage student behavior and safety during travels, local invitationals, regional meets, and state competitions.
Logistics & Administration :
Coordinate meet schedules, team rosters, and transportation with the Student Activities Office.
Compliance :
Ensure alignment with all school district regulations and state activities association guidelines.
Culture Building :
Create an equitable, highly motivating environment that encourages diverse student participation.
Qualifications & Requirements Education :
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience :
Previous experience participating in or coaching Knowledge Bowl, Quiz Bowl, or similar academic competitions is highly preferred.
Skills :
Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively with high school youths in group settings.
